\u25cf\u25cfAnnouncement concerning partial contents change<\/span><\/strong><\/span>\u25cf\u25cf<\/span>
\nObservation of the marine ecosystem around Moreton Bay using kayaks was scheduled, but as a result of consultation with Moreton Bay Research Station (MBRS) on the safety of the use of kayaks in the open water, we have decided to change it to a safer and more interesting observation and training event onboard MBRS’ ships.<\/p>\n

One of the very important dugong habitats is found near North Stradbroke Island. As you know, Dugongs are listed as vulnerable. We will conduct dugong habitat survey activities from MBRS\u2019 ships as well as observation of marine animals such as dolphins and sea turtles around the island.<\/span><\/strong>
\n\u203bNote: in the event of bad weather, it may be cancelled.<\/p>\n

Please apply using the application form below. Applications will close once maximum numbers have been reached. In principle, AJWCEF members will receive priority. Application for membership can be made at the same time as application for training courses. In this case, applicants being treated as members for the purpose of training course applications. When<\/strong>

Participants are to meet at 8 a.m. on 13 August at the arrival lobby of the Gold Coast Airport, Coolangatta, for transfer to accommodation.
\n* The course starts and finishes on location at the Gold Coast, so participants are free to spend time there before or after the course as they choose.

Eligibility<\/strong>
\nHigh school students (over 15 years old), university students or the general public who have limited knowledge about or experience with marine life and marine environment; people who would like to learn more about marine life.<\/p>\n

\nAvailable places: 12 (Minimum 8 participants)
\n\uff08AJWCEF members will be given priority. Application for membership can be made at the same time as training course applications, in which case priority will apply.)<\/p>\n

\n5. Impact of marine rubbish
\n6. Gorge walk – marine mammal activity (manta rays, turtles, whales etc,)
\n7. High energy rocky shore
\n8. Sandy mudflat
\n9.Dugong habitat survey activities and observation of marine ecosystem around Moreton Bay from MBRS’ ships (including dolphin and turtle spotting)
\n10. Plankton identification
\n11. Seagrass eco-system
\n12. Data analysis of individual project

Flight Reservations<\/strong>
\nBecause this tour commences with participants gathering at the Gold Coast Airport, participants will need to make their own flight arrangements. In general, the most convenient and cost-effective methods is to fly with Jetstar directly from Narita to the Gold Coast, or from Kansai Airport via Narita to the Gold Coast. Please note, however, that Jetstar does re-schedule flights from time to time. Furthermore, in order to gather at the Gold Coast on the morning of 13 August participants will need to book flights that depart no later than the evening of 12 August.<\/p>\n

Information is available on Jetstar\u2019s home page (http:\/\/www.jetstar.com<\/a>) and bookings can be easily made in 10-15 minutes by following the instructions. Although you are not required to enter a passport number at this time, you will need to have a credit card ready to make the payment. If you require further assistance, please contact the AJWCEF Head Office by email: training@ajwcef.org. We are also able to recommend a reliable travel agent should you require help with flight and insurance arrangements (being a not-for-profit organisation, AJWCEF itself is not a travel agent). Please be aware, however, that booking through a travel agent will add to the cost of these elements.<\/p>\n

Accommodation & Meals<\/strong>
\nDepending on the ratio of male to female participants, accommodation may be twin share (2 people) or a suite room (up to 4 people). The welcome\u00a0meal, the farewell dinner and\u00a0all the meals on Stradbroke Island are included. However, all other meals will be at the student\u2019s own expense.<\/p>\n

Health & Vaccinations<\/strong>
\nPlease advise us of any health issues, allergies, etc., when applying to participate in the training course. Please also ensure that tetanus vaccinations are up to date (within the last ten years), or arrange vaccination no later than two weeks prior to commencement of the course.<\/p>\n

Insurance<\/strong>
\nParticipants must take out appropriate insurance (to cover illness, injury, hospitalization, loss, etc.) prior to commencement of the training course. The AJWCEF takes no responsibility for accidents or losses during free time or those caused by negligence of the person in question. Participants will be asked to provide copies of insurance documents at the commencement of the course.<\/p>\n

Cost<\/strong>
\nAUD$3,281.00
\nMembers receive priority and enjoy a $50 discount on course cost (application for membership can be made with course application, in which case, discount will apply). Cost includes seminar fees, practical training sessions, facility usage fees, accommodation costs, local transport costs (excluding free time), welcome\u00a0brunch, farewell dinner\u00a0and meals at Moreton Bay Research Station. Airfares, meals and money for free time are not included.
